It’s finally summer time! The time for taking family vacations across country, going to the beach weekly, and laying out and indulging in a good book. If you have been following me for a while, you know I am a total bookworm. I would even say I am a proud nerd. As a little kid, I use to stay up way past bedtime reading until I finished books. Call it an obsession, but I love to read.
I started 2019, with a goal to complete more books than I did last year. This should be an easy goal because last year I could not finish a book from start to finish for the life of me. Learning how to balance my new life as a new mom left little time for reading books. Can you count on one hand how many books you finished this year? So sad, but I can. Two books! I am already two books ahead of my goal from last year. #winning
I am still determined to read more this year and look forward to the summer to catch up. These are some books that I have heard countless good things about I’ve been wanting to read for awhile. These books are perfect for mothers who work for themselves, work for home, or are working towards becoming an entrepreneur.
Below is my list of books you need to add to your summer reading list ASAP.

Becoming by Michelle Obama
In her memoir, Michelle Obama invites us into her world, chronicling the experiences that have shaped her—from her childhood on the South Side of Chicago to her years as an executive balancing the demands of motherhood and work, to her time spent at the world’s most famous address. I thought I liked Michelle Obama before but after reading her memoir, I wholeheartedly admire, respect, and love our former First Lady.

Mom Set Free by Jeannie Cunnion
As moms, we’re under constant pressure. We have to get it right in all areas of life—work, home, family, and faith—because our children’s futures depend on our ability to perfectly orchestrate the present. But those impossible standards leave us swinging between worry, fear, anger, and shame. This amazing book will help you discover how the gospel message can empower you to parent in the freedom of God’s sovereignty. So that you can breathe deeper, walk lighter, and enjoy your children—and the parenting journey—more than ever before. Must read!

The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman
Between busy schedules and long days, expressing love can fall by the wayside. We forget to compliment, to give gifts ‘just because,’ to linger in our embrace. The things that say ‘I love you’ seem to either not get said or not get through. This is a book about saying it—and hearing it—clearly. If you are in a relationship or plan to be in one, this is a must-read.

The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D. Wattles
Don’t let the title fool you. This book is not as shallow as it sounds. The Science of Getting Rich is the classic guide to creating wealth through the Law of Attraction. First published in 1910, a hundred years later it inspired Rhonda Byrne’s bestselling book and movie, The Secret. The Science of Getting Rich will guide you in developing a vision, strengthening willpower, cultivating gratitude, and receiving life’s abundant gifts.

BARE by Susan Hyatt
With catchphrases such as “stop worrying about your thigh gap and worry about your wage gap!” and “stop counting calories and start counting checks!”, Susan’s BARE talks about what is keeping women from making the money they deserve and living their best life with the most pleasure, and that is dieting. This is a must read if you are ready for a full mental and fitness transformation.

Chillpreneur by Denise Duffield-Thomas
Taking a non stressful approach to becoming a successful entrepreneur, Chillpreneur is for the Type C personality – a chilled, ambitious-but-lazy, wants-to-change-the-world- but-also-thinks-there’s-an-easier-way person. If this is you then Chillpreneur should be your next read!
Summer time is a great time to relax and spend time with family. It is also a great time to get serious about your business goals and use the time to learn something new, join a course, or simply read until your heart is content and learn all you can about your interests and passions that fuel your business. I hope this list of summer reads serves you well this summer, fellow mom boss!
